Some questions for you to consider.
Do you spend time travelling with your work? Why not use your travelling time to good use? Have you considered listening to an audiobook to improve yourself and your business?
Books can save us from years of trial and error and monumental mistakes. A book contains experiments. Decades of learning. It allows us to discover all the author’s thoughts and experiences.
Did you know that Jeff Bezos the founder of Amazon has his top executives read business books? In fact, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg also are avid readers to and are said to read more than the average person. If they improve their business by reading books, why don’t you?
Here are some of my favourites.
The Richest Man in Babylon by George Clason dispenses financial advice! It’s a collection of parables set 4000 years ago in ancient Babylon. The fact that they’re still around now makes them worth listening to in my eyes. Here’s a couple of the parables.
Control thy expenditure– I have to agree this is excellent advice.
Make thy gold multiply – Tell me more!!!
Another book on my recommended reading list would be Chimp Paradox. This is a mind management book which helps you achieve success, confidence and happiness. It addresses questions such as, do you sometimes behave irrationally or impulsively? Do you face some situations with fear and trepidation? Do feelings of self-doubt consume everyday activities?
If you answer yes to any of the above questions and let’s face it, we’re all human so the above thoughts are bound to creep in then this book will help.
Rise by Royston Guest addresses the question of whether you’re living the life you were meant to lead or whether you’re stuck in a rut with a desire to improve but uncertain where to start?
Even the most successful of business owners can improve so this is a must read.
The Journey to Wealth and World Class Mindset by James Burke. Well, the title made me want to read it – who wouldn’t! It’s about how to take control of your happiness, emotions, finances, and physical destiny. There are many valuable lessons in this book and as the author is actually my Business Coach, I know he lives and breathes and means every single word of it!
Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers. This is a fascinating one. It’s based on an innovative training programme which presents a systematic approach by which people can overcome feelings of self-doubt, anger, frustration and helplessness. The author outlines techniques which are designed to help readers face and conquer their fears – it’s amazing!
Seven Strategies for Wealth and Happiness by Jim Rohn. Jim Rohn is a genius, and this book gives advice on how to set goals, control one’s finances, change one’s habits, find wisdom, and improve one’s lifestyle. As far as I’m concerned, any book that helps to control finances and improve lifestyle has to be on everyone’s wish list and re-read regularly too!
I hope I’ve given you some food for thought and you’ll try at least one of them. Be more like Jeff Bezo and Bill Gates and take a step to improving yourself and your business.
